Still "Buried" In Boxes From Moving

But I have done some room make-overs, too. While this place came furnished, there are things I chose to change.
Before and After
Too many artificial flowers in the dining room, in the first picture...
You can see the thrift shop gold finials I put in the windows along with some other knick knacks to replace all of that.
A fabric that I think will work nicely for pillows and other accents...
These drapes I have on order for the room...
And a before and after of the small but cozy guest bedroom. I knew when I bought the place the first thing I would want to do is remove that unsightly wallpaper border. A special solution and scraper from WalMart for under fifteen dollars took it off easily. Here's the "after" picture, although I don't think I'm going to go with the drapes I initially chose. We'll see... That's what I have for now! Still a lot of work to be done here before I can break out my pastels! Take care until next time!

Faces #556 and #557, Scumble-Play

I know I mentioned in my last post that because I was dreading something I've had going on this week, it was leading to some strange creative influences over me. But just the same, after all these hundreds of faces, I've had to try to be innovative to keep things interesting as well. The first pic below is...maybe too interesting (laughing)! But it's only the under-painting.And in this next pic, I've started to soften the effect by scumbling . I've also tightened up the drawing with highlights, and some blending over areas I didn't like initially. And below, the finished study. I will probably do a few more like this, maybe adding in some other elements to add more interest. Pastels are great for scumbling and heavy textural effects. But as you have seen from some of my other work, you can also get sharp details if preferred. I was lucky to have added these two faces with all the chaos of this week. But I am still hoping to get a few more done this week. Until next time, take care!
