Puzzled And Over The Hill

Just a very brief post...experiencing unbelievable problems with Chrome and Blogger. But the first piece below is Puzzled. The painting of a skull is Over The Hill and was created out of amusement at my latest birthday today. Lastly is a photo collage of recent work. I like seeing it compiled in a collage. Hopefully by next post, technical issues will be resolved. Take care until next time.

Two New Pieces; Face #924-#926

Two new pieces, three new faces...
The first piece is titled Saturday. The faces are rendered in pastel and ink, as are parts of the background. Some scrapbook elements, stickers. All on Shizen paper.
The second piece was definitely a learning experience. Her face is heavily layered with pastel and ink...I really pushed my surface to the limit. I have titled it Face #926. The peacock feather was also rendered in pastel and ink. You may see more peacock feathers in an upcoming piece. I love the look.

I also played with my photographs. I like this vintage look below. Perhaps I will print some up to use in another piece. ;)
I also want to share a link about creativity. An interesting read.
As always, thanks for visiting and take until next time.

Face #923 And A Flood Of Ideas

As I was working on the mixed media piece below, I had a flood of ideas for future pieces. It made me recall a recent article a friend had posted on Facebook. Anyone creative might find it to be an interesting read, and the link is here:
https://www.brainpickings.org/2013/05/22/manage-your-day-to-day-99u/
The mixed media piece below I have simply titled Face #923.The face was rendered in pastel and ink, and the rest consists of decorative papers, a sticker, and a ticket. Both the sticker and ticket were part of different scrap booking supply goods I purchased. It was an enjoyable piece to work on. :)

I hope to get a chance to explore some of that flood of ideas over the week, and post again by week's end. Until then, take care!

Pumpkin Madness; Faces #921-#922

Pumpkin products turn up everywhere this time of year. In fact, at this very moment I am eagerly awaiting a visit from my mother who will be bringing Dunkin Donuts pumpkin muffins. Highly addictive pumpkin muffins.
In any event, I made this piece I titled The Amethyst Queen, pastel and ink. Afterwards, I kept thinking she needed a king and the idea for my next piece became clear as day in my mind. I have titled it The Autumn King And His Pumpkin. Also pastel and ink.
Perhaps I'll do a collection, and this is the start. Perhaps I'll write and illustrate a children's book. But in the meantime, I will be waiting for my pumpkin muffin. :)

Until next time, take care and thanks for visiting.

Faces #919 and #920; Ink Sketches

My weekends are usually filled with relaxation time with my sweetheart, so I rarely get any studio time then. But I did get a little bit of sketching done to share, two new faces....

Hoping to have a productive week, and be able to post at week's end.
Until next time, take care.

Re-purposing, Collage Snippets, And New Faces

Face #917 shown below, was the result of a re-purposed study of which I liked the colors and shapes. The study appears below the finished piece.

Along the way of creating it, I thought I'd play with the image digitally. It gave me some great ideas for making collage bits, mixed media elements...I will probably print some of these up. There are also some shown from other pieces I've done. I used various digital editing programs.

I also have an ink drawing to share, Face #918..
Until next time, take care. Thanks for visiting. :)

Labor Day Weekend Project: Finished!!!!!!

In all truth, it took a week from my earlier study of Face #914 to it's completion this morning. This painting was definitely a learning process in many aspects, and I enjoyed it. Many, many transformations along the way which I show beneath the finished piece below...

Faces #914-#916

I probably would have gotten more faces done over the weekend if I hadn't gotten involved in some other projects.
But I was glad to have done this 19" by 25" study, Face #914, below. As to whether or not I will finish it it and post any updates is a decision pending.
A close up....
an ink sketch, faces#915-#916

Lastly, I have a friend who loves adult coloring books and has been on a gel pen craze. I made these two pieces below for her. It will be interesting to see how she finishes them.

I am hoping to accomplish a lot this week, and will hopefully get another post in. Thanks for visiting. Until next time, take care.
