The Latest Bunch Of Characters
I have a set of 18 Unison pastels known as "Natural Earth" mostly intended for rendering landscapes. While in fact I may sometimes use them for landscapes, my primary intention was to use them for portraits. I love the tawny, sun-kissed flesh tones and golden hair I am able to achieve with the set. As I have mentioned in an earlier post, I don't normally work from photographs or models. Any resemblance to actual persons is purely coincidental. But when I was sketching this particular face, the pencil drawing looked like Charlie Sheen (I think it was because of the hair style). But "Sorry, Charlie"...I want that warm Unison pastel glow. While he doesn't look like blonder brother Emilio Estevez or father Martin Sheen either, I still think face # 34 could pass for a member of the Sheen family!
I am finding it difficult to squeeze in my three sketches a day, because of a full life. But I am determined to reach my goal, so alas, I will persist. The experience thus far has made me challenge myself, and go beyond my comfort zone. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
